Golfing in Mexico Realizing the role tourism can play in the overall economic growth of the country, the Mexican government is now busy promoting golf like never before. The country may not have too many golf courses to offer, but what makes them special is the affectionate quality about them. Mexico may not have the abundance of golf courses to offer its visitors but what it does have is a real affectionate quality about its courses. Many courses are located in spectacular settings, with some of them carved into vast deserts or craggy hillsides. It seems golfing in Mexico has come to stay, and the country looks set to make a mark in the world of golf in the near future. Let us have a look at some of the golf courses in Mexico. Located in the western coast of Mexico, the sun-drenched Acapulco
has this Club de Golf, which is an intimate nine-hole court suitable
for travelers looking to get in a late day round. There are three more
championship golf courses located south of the city near the airport,
an area called Playa Diamante. One of them, the Pierre Marques tests
the skill of all golfers with its rolling hills and tropical setting.
Acapulco Princess features over a thousand guestrooms. Tres Vidas is a
waterfront course that is considered one of the most beautiful courses
in Mexico. Mazatlan offers not too many, but the most diverse courses
in Mexico. The 27-hole El Cid championship course offers breathtaking
scenery and challenging golf. The Estrella del Mar stretches more than
two miles on beautiful beach, offering beautiful views of the Pacific
Ocean. Golfers face an early challenge as the opening hole is a
menacing par five, offering an indication of what is to follow next. The city of Cabo San Lucas may offer golfers the maximum number of options and the best rounds. The Dye championship course in the Cabo San Lucas Country Club is a seaside design featuring nine lakes, fairway views of the San Lucas Bay and the Sea of Cortes. Three of the other notable courses in Cabo San Lucas, the Palmilla , the Cabo del Sol and the El Dorado are lengthy Jack Nicklaus designs. The Cabo Real offers a very challenging course, and features a few of the more recognizable ocean side holes in Mexico. In Cabo San Lucas the Campo de Golf a nine-hole stretch measuring 2,900 yards is a completely public course. The winter weather in Guaymas and San Carlo is mild, they have
excellent white sand beaches, and much cheaper than most top American
golfing destinations to boot. Guaymas is a small sea port city and San
Carlos is a modern town with a beautiful, wide boulevard as the main
street. The golf courses in both these places are very well maintained
and there are quite a few more in the pipeline. The Ocean Course at
Cabo Del Sol, work of the legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, is part of a
1,800-acre resort next to the ocean. Its beauty, well, is
breathtaking. Among the other courses are Palmilla, Nicklaus' first
venture into golf course design in Latin America, Campo de Golf
Loreto, Las Hadas La Mantarraya, one of the country's finest tests and
La Vista Country Club. |
